Mark your calendars for July 9, 2023, because the highly anticipated July Touchdown Throwdown is just around the corner! Presented by the esteemed Detroit Sports Club, this event is set to be a thrilling showcase of flag football talent. Known for their year-round flag football leagues across Metro Detroit, the Detroit Sports Club is ready to kick off their inaugural 5v5 league at the Hawk this fall. However,  before we do that, we are determined to see who the best flag football teams in the Midwest are, once and Foreall.

What better way to do so than by hosting a tournament right in the heart of summer, with a little extra incentive? Prepare for an exhilarating competition, set against the backdrop of the stunning turf fields at the Hawk. With a team of exceptional organizers at the helm and the support of top officials in the state, this event promises to be an unforgettable experience for flag football enthusiasts, as they gather with their friends for an action-packed weekend in D.

WHAT:

The July Touchdown Throwdown is an Adult 5v5 Flag Football Tournament featuring BOTH Contact and Non Contact divisions of play. 

WHEN:

This is a one day tournament hosted on Sunday, July 9, 2023

WHERE:

Head to the Farmington Hills Community Center, home of The Hawk, located at 29995 W 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI. 48334.

DIVISIONS OF PLAY:

This style of play is 5v5 flag football featuring two divisions of play.

- NON CONTACT 5v5 - Games will play in the morning.
The tournament will tentatively be played between 8am - 2pm. Times may change based on the number of teams. 

- CONTACT 5v5 - Games will play in the afternoon upon the conclusion of the Non Contact division.

The tournament will tentatively be played between 2:30pm - 8:30pm. Times may change based on the number of teams. 

* Teams may choose to play in both divisions of play. 

FULL TEAM REGISTRATIONS AND HOUSE TEAMS:

In addition to accepting full team registrations, we will also be forming one house team in each division. This will team will be for individual players who may want to play but do not have enough players. The fee to register on the house team is $75. You may join with a buddy or two. The house teams will have a roster max of 12 players. 

FORMAT:
All participating teams will engage in a three-game round-robin format. Following the completion of the round-robin stage, teams will be ranked and placed in a single-elimination tournament bracket based on their performance.

CHAMPIONS:
The tournament champions will not only secure their place in the annals of flag football history but will also be awarded a grand prize of $1,000.00. Additionally, they will receive Champion Shirts and earn a Paid Bid into the prestigious Gridiron Gratitude Tournament held over Thanksgiving weekend.

ROSTER:
Teams may have up to 12 players on their roster, ensuring depth and versatility. All players must be 18 years or older to compete.

INVESTMENT:
To participate, teams are required to pay an entry fee of $395. Please note that a processing fee may apply.

ROSTERS & WAIVERS:
Before hitting the field, all teams must complete the necessary waivers. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the tournament.

RULES:
We will use a combination of UFFL and USA FLAG rules.  There will be a few modifications that will be created as an addendum to these rules. The tournament rule book will be posted online June 1st.

DEADLINE:

The deadline to register is Friday, June 30 2023 or when full. The first 16 teams to register per division will secure their spot in this highly anticipated event.
